Life works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, the universe will conspire and show you signs if something is meant to happen. Today is one of these days. But before I go into what happened today, let me give you a background story.
I just returned from a relaxing trip to Greece. I had the chance to walk around Athens, eat in small great restaurants, and enjoy the beautiful weather. Although Greece is where I was born, this was the first time I visited the mainland for an actual vacation. I highly recommend visiting those of you who have not been there. Anyway, because I speak the language and write in Greek, the first few books I wrote were in my mother tongue through a local publishing company. It was pretty new, but I enjoyed that I would be working with someone starting from scratch, for one, and to be honest, all other publishers- especially the larger ones had turned my work down.
My visit was an excellent opportunity to visit the publishing company that houses my books. I will not go through that visit in detail, but I will share that it made me think hard. And so, while the following questions were popping up nonstop, I wondered, Where am I going? What is it that I am expecting? Should I just give up and stop writing altogether? (Those who write know precisely what I am talking about and how I feel. Hours spent putting your soul on paper. Creating characters and bringing them to life. Seeing them talk, fight, laugh, and cry in front of you. There were times when I spoke to them. I asked them what they wanted and where they planned to take me. Crazy, right?)
